A Beautiful Broyle Place Sussex Wedding (With Awesome Superhero Touches) ~ Becky & Christian

KA-POW! Becky and Christian’s super-cool Broyle Place wedding was packed full of personal touches – and references to the groom’s ‘superhero geek’ side (as the beautiful bride says!). Love Sussex Weddings reader Becky added loads of surprises for her Batman, including a hidden Batman in their wedding cake AND rocking a funky garter. Team this with a gorgeous springtime outdoor ceremony (in April!) and blush and grey tones and you’ve got one helluva wedding day! You ready to hear more? Here’s Becky to unleash all the goss!

We spent the day choosing the perfect ring

After three years together we both knew that we were going to be getting married in the near future but on a day out in London, Christian surprised me with a trip to Hatton Garden and we spent the day choosing the perfect ring.

We chose to get married in Sussex as we wanted to remain local. A lot of my family live in London and Essex and travelled down for the bank holiday weekend which was great. As soon as we walked through the gates of Broyle Place we knew immediately it was where we wanted to get married – we didn’t even look at anywhere else!

Our planning came through recommendations, online searches, wedding fayres, magazines and blogs (including Love Sussex Weddings!). Word of mouth was great, as was wedding fayres getting to speak to the suppliers directly. The internet was probably the biggest help.  I would spend hours searching for suppliers both in the local area and further afield. Pinterest became my new best friend for inspiration!

I would describe our wedding theme as rustic with a hint of superhero! Our colours were grey and blush pink.

Making it personal

We wanted the whole wedding to be as personal as possible. We created a table full of both families wedding photos throughout the years. The guests each kept their photos which they all loved.

My brother is a singer/song writer and had written us a song for our first dance. Plenty of tears were shed!

Christian is a superhero geek so I added a couple of surprises to the day for him. A hidden Batman in our cake was a great surprise and also a Batman garter made for a great photo!

My something blue was a hankie that belonged to my great grandmother and has been used by lots of brides in my family.

Getting creative saved us money!

We decorated our own mason jars for our centre pieces. We also made our table plan which saved a lot of money. My advice would be to look online for ideas and find family and friends who may be able to help make things for you! My dad came in very handy!

My top tips for other Sussex brides to-be are…

Don’t rush! We left two years between getting engaged and our wedding. I meant we had plenty of time to get the exact suppliers we wanted and it gave us time to save to have everything we wanted.

The thing we enjoyed most about planning our wedding was…

Everything! Seeing everything come together so perfectly after two years of planning was great!

If we could do it all again we would…

Savour every moment! It goes by so quickly!

Honeymoon hotspot: we had a 2 week ‘Disneymoon’ in Orlando and a much needed relaxing week in The Bahamas.

Well wasn’t this a wedding full of POW and prettiness? Becky and Christian’s stunning wedding is proof that themes that you might not think would work together, actually do – if they represent YOU as a couple. We couldn’t love the mix of rustic gorgeousness (with those dreamy blush and grey hues!) and quirky superhero additions more; it really gives us a true sense of how cool, fun and loved-up Becky and Christian are.

We can’t sign off without waxing lyrical about the love birds’ beautiful outdoor ceremony, which took place in APRIL. How perfect did it look? Definitely something to think about for all you couples thinking that you can only say I Do during the summer months. Is there anything more romantic than a springtime setting? We think not right now!

Thanks so much to Becky and Christian for sharing their dream day with us and of course their amazing photographer, the ever-fabulous Clare FitzGerald of FitzGerald Photographic!
