It’s not very often that we come across a couple who are already married and want to re-marry, doing it bigger and better than before, but that was until we came across Charlotte and Jarred from Hailsham, East Sussex who tied the knot (for the second time) in March.
Originally marrying at Brighton Registry Office exactly a year beforehand, the couple (who own the popular Chapter 12 Wine Bar in Hailsham) decided to hold their BIG-ger day a year later, complete with romantic church service and stunning Pekes Manor reception.
As well has having two ‘dos, Charlotte also stuck to her bridal budget by buying a pre-loved wedding dress from a local charity shop and as she proves, it’s certainly worth considering ladies!
Here’s Charlotte to tell us all:
We met through my best friend Emily who Jarred worked with in Australia, Jarred got mugged in Spain while travelling and needed somewhere to stay other than Emily’s sofa, I needed a lodger and Jarred never moved out! Jarred proposed on Christmas Day 2012 in Australia.
We chose to get married here in Sussex as I’ve lived in East Sussex for nearly all of my life and just love the area – Jarred had no choice!
Owning the wine bar, we had an amazing source of knowledge within our suppliers, as well as having some fantastic friends who have been involved with wedding planning before. We also attended a few wedding fayres including the National Wedding Show.
When looking for bridal dresses I couldn’t justify the expense for ‘The Dress’ so I got a bit creative and bought a relatively plain dress from Age Concern in Heathfield and decided to adapt it with the help of a seamstress.
What I enjoyed most about planning our wedding was… Thinking about having everyone together (we hired the venue for four days to be able to spend a lot of time with family and friends) and we liked the cake tasting too!
If we could do it all again we would… We loved our day as it was but if we were to do it for another (additional!) time we would go to Australia.
This wonderful wedding certainly perked up our day – wasn’t it stunning? Charlotte looked gorgeous in her charity shop chic gown and their rustic reception decor worked beautifully with their Tudor setting, in a word: gorgeous!
It was a lovely touch for the couple to celebrate their first ‘anniversary’ by tying the knot in front of family and friends at such sensational Sussex venues, and we’re sure it will be a day to remember forever!
A big thank you to Clare from FitzGerald Photographic for allowing us to share these fabulous photographs and of course, Charlotte and Jarred for telling us about their lovely wedding day. Guys, if you do fancy going for the hat-trick – we’d love an invite to your Australian celebrations!
