Vintage Wakehurst Place Wedding Inspiration Shoot ~ Candy Floss and Bow Ties Photography

When some pretty pictures and a touching email from the lovely Lucy at Sussex-based Candy Floss and Bow Ties (yes, we loved the name too!) landed in the Love Sussex Weddings inbox, we just knew we had to share them with you.

Photographer Lucy arranged this wonderful styled shoot at the stunning Wakehurst Place near Ardingly in West Sussex to not only showcase the beautiful venue and talented local suppliers, but also to commemorate the second anniversary of her dad (and fellow Candy Floss and Bow Ties photographer) passing away, as we’re sure you’ll agree, it is a very lovely tribute.

Over to the lovely Lucy to hear more:

I love Wakehurst Place and wanted to pull together a styled shoot to showcase the venue and some great suppliers. I co-ordinated the day which involved around 12 suppliers in total and approximately 50 people, including the 20 or so models!

The models were mainly friends and were all people I asked because I felt they would appreciate or benefit from the pampering. One of my favourite moments was photographing my friend Pauline. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer and had to have a mastectomy, followed by an intense course of chemo and radiotherapy. Her prognosis is good and it was a sheer pleasure to give her the treat of a makeover.

The week of the shoot saw the second anniversary of my Dad’s passing and as such this is the second anniversary of Candy Floss and Bow Ties, I thought this would be a really fitting tribute and great way to remember Dad in a positive way.

Team shoot:

Venue: Wakehurst Place | Photography: Candy Floss and Bow Ties |Bridal wear: Debenhams

Wasn’t this vintage-inspired shoot lovely? Everyone looks like they had a great day and we hope it’s given you retro-loving brides-to-be some further inspiration for your big day! The scrabble place names are a unique, and for the hands-on amongst you, easy to make addition for your tables and do we even need to say how much we loved the afternoon tea theme styled reception? Cake and tea is always a winning combination, here at Love Sussex Weddings HQ.

A big thank you to Lucy for sharing this utterly gorgeous shoot and lovely tribute to her dad with us. Thanks to all the lovely Sussex suppliers and models featured in this shoot too.

Here at The Icing on the Cake it was our absolute pleasure to provide Lucy with the vintage china, tableclothes, glassware and naked wedding cake to help style her shoot. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Lucy and the other suppliers.
