The couple continued their Great Gatsby-inspired celebrations at the romantic George hotel.
Here’s beautiful bride Laura to tell us all:
“Me and Reg met on a blind date and felt at ease with each other straight away! Reg proposed on my 29th birthday. He got up early and got dressed for work, I opened some presents then he left for work (I had been hoping he would take the day off!) as he left he said there was a present for me in the lounge to open when he was gone.
I waited a while then went downstairs with our baby girl to find him on one knee in the lounge! It was so perfect that I had our baby girl in my arms, after I said yes all three of us hugged then Reg made a champagne breakfast and took me for a surprise lunch with all of our family at The George Hotel!
We chose to get married in Rye as it’s our hometown and we love it. We talked and decided we’d love to have a touch of Gatsby glamour. We visited The George as a potential venue as it was one of our favourite places to go for a drink, or meal on special occasions but we were assuming we could never afford it!! When we discovered that it was within budget we were so excited, it was our dream venue!
Reg got ready at home with his groomsmen (and went for a fry up in the Bikers Café beforehand!) and I got ready at The George with my bridesmaids.
I walked down the aisle to the intro of Ben Howard’s Old Pine and we left the Town Hall, as a married couple, to the sound of the Beatles ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’. I had written a poem about Reg and my best friend Sarah read it out during our ceremony.
Stunning but Simple DIY Stationery
From the favours (spice jars filled with bon-bons and homemade name tags tied on), to the table names (named after our memorable places) to the sweetie table labels and signs (all designed in a twenties style font), I made all of the wedding stationery!
On my hen night, my sister had given me a photo of me, Reg and Evie with the words: “Right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale…” on. It was so lovely that I put the quote into a frame for our big day.
Don’t worry about what you ‘should’ do for a wedding and do whatever the hell you want to do! Also, spend out for the photographer (& videographer budget allowing) because after the day, that’s your greatest memory and treasure.
Everything! I had dreamt of getting married since I was a little girl and enjoyed every second of it!! It was literally a dream come true!
Paying out the money! Ouch!
Have a live band!
Gorgeous, glamorous and utterly elegant – it’s fair to say we’re a little bit (OK a lot) in love with Laura and Reg’s twenties-inspired big day.
Laura looked stunning in her amazing fishtail gown with lace hairpiece, while hubby Reg rocked his suit and bow tie with dapper Gatsby charm. Of course, we must mention how lovely the couple’s flowergirl – their daughter, looked in her Ted Baker dress, so cute!
A huge thank you to Laura and Reg for sharing their wedding day hints and tips with us, and even bigger thanks to their terrific photographer Teri Vincent for letting us share these wonderful wedding photographs.
