A Vintage Style Bartholomew Barn Wedding in West Sussex

When we saw these photos of Love Sussex Weddings reader Kara and hubby Peter’s beautiful Bartholomew Barn wedding in the gorgeous West Sussex countryside, we just had to share them with you!

Marrying in May 2013, this fun-loving Hove couple’s wedding combined elegant vintage touches with a fresh countryside feel. Enough nattering from us, here’s blooming lovely bride Kara to tell us all about her springtime ‘do:

“We chose to get married in Sussex because I’m from Brighton and my husband has also lived in Brighton for 23 years. We think the Sussex countryside is beautiful. Also, we had seen Bartholomew Barn online and just fell in love with it! When we went to visit the venue for the first time it was stunning and we booked it immediately.

For inspiration and finding suppliers, I went to a few vintage wedding fayres but it mostly came from researching on the internet and using blogs like Love Sussex Weddings. I had a really good idea of exactly what I wanted in my head, so it was just a case of putting it into reality.

Our wedding had a vintage feel (especially with my dress and bridesmaids dresses!) but also a country feel with the floral arrangements.

My top tip for other Sussex brides to-be is…

Make sure you take time out even if it’s just 10 minutes as a couple to sit back and appreciate what an amazing day it is with all your loved ones together!!

What I enjoyed most about planning my wedding was…

All of it, we loved every moment of planning!

Oh, what a lovely May day! We thought Kara and Peter’s relaxed countryside barn wedding was a site to behold. Kara looked every inch an elegant bride in her figure-hugging silk vintage gown, and hubby Peter rocked his kilt like a true dapper Scotsman.

Thanks to the newly-weds and their fantastic wedding photographer for sharing their fabulous day with us.

PS. Did you spot that each label on their table plan was named after a cool Brighton pub: (The Albert, The Dorset, The Hop Poles, The Mash Tun)? What a great idea!
