In March 2013, vintage-loving Michaela and Tom, from Hove in East Sussex, tied the knot in a beautiful Brighton Registry Office ceremony and celebrated in style by dancing the night away in Brighton Ballrooms (Proud Cabaret Brighton).
Whether you’re a vintage lover, or just looking for a touch of elegant inspiration, you’re going to love this sophisticated ‘do! But don’t just take our word for it, over to beautiful bride Michaela, to hear more about her big day!
Tom proposed to me – a year earlier- in 2012, in a beach hut in Thailand. It was utterly amazing. I’ll never forget it. We chose to get married in Sussex as it is home for us and we didn’t want to make anyone travel too far. Also, we absolutely love Brighton and we just fell in love with our beautiful reception venue. We found our suppliers through friends! Lisa Busby, who created our stationery, is a friend of mine, and she also recommended our fantastic photographer, Erika at Photo Madly.
We decided on a vintage theme and then the rest just came to us… My dress was from Hope and Harlequin‘s vintage made to measure collection. I wanted something quite simple and I think this was perfect. In keeping with the vintage theme, I wore my Grandma’s necklace and bought a vintage broach to turn into a hair piece. We tried to make our wedding more of a party than a wedding, which it turned out to be so we were happy. We wanted to make this fun and informal. I didn’t have bridesmaids and Tom didn’t have a best man.
One of our favourite things was making the centre pieces. We created them by using empty liquor bottles and melted green wax down them. The favours were miniatures to match the table centre piece; we think the guests loved them!
Change nothing! I absolutely loved every minute of it and love being married now, I wouldn’t change a thing. Honeymoon Hotspot: We pack-backed for two and a half weeks in Costa Rica and Panama. TEAM WEDDING
